The 72^nd year of the Winchester Tennis Association is off and running!

I'd like to start the next century of Winchester tennis by thanking all of you who make tennis in Winchester something special. And in particular, I would like to thank a couple of folks whose efforts are exceptional.

First of all, thanks are not enough to acknowledge Don Ellis' contri-bution to the tennis community in Winchester. His tireless efforts on court improvement and main-tenance and beautification of the surrounding areas have been Herculean. His decision to retire, while a good one for him, is a sad one for the rest of us! Donny - we wish you all the best and we look forward to seeing you on the playing side!

Second, we are lucky to have Vinny Palumbo and his sidekick of old, Bob Collins back this year. The courts will soon be busy, but with Vinny and Bob at the helm everyone will have their play!

Third, I would like to thank Dick Malcolm from Winchester Limited Jewelers, for his help with the selection of the prizes for each tournament. He never ceases to amaze me with his ability to do so much with so little!
