The '98 Season…

T

he 1998 season proved to be a fun and successful year for tournaments in Winchester. First and foremost, thanks to all who helped with tournament logistics: draws, board coordination, refreshments, umpiring photography/ publicity. Special thanks go to Dick Malcolm of Winchester Ltd. Jewelers who coordinated the prizes and last, but by no means least, many thanks to Don Ellis, Vinny Palumbo and Bob Collins for court readiness and general support. Below are the results of each tournament. Congratulations to the winners, finalists and all participants! Hope to see you out there next year!

In Memory of John Cronin

A

s most of the tennis community knows, John Cronin, Court Supervisor and avid tennis enthusiast, passed away early this year.

Contributions in John's memory have been used to purchase several beautiful benches that have now been installed court-side.

On Sunday September 20, 1998, at 11:30 a.m., the WTA will hold a dedication ceremony and remember John for who he was and all he did for tennis in Winchester. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The WTA would like to express its heartfelt thanks to John for his years of service and extend our best wishes to his family.
