Tennis Courts
Winchester has 15 Har-Tru Tennis courts located on Palmer St. To use them, you need a season's pass or to pay a single use fee. All tennis lessons are given at Packer Courts. A tennis pass is necessary to register for these classes. There are two hard surface courts at Leonard Field on Washington St. and one hard surface court at MacDonald Field. The hard surface courts do not require a tennis pass. There is a supervisor at the Packer Courts in the mornings, evenings, and on the weekends. Use of the courts is on a first-come, first-served basis. If people are waiting, singles play should be limited to 1 hr. and doubles play to 90 min. The courts are closed each day for watering from 12-1 or 1-2 pm, depending on the lesson schedule.

TENNIS LESSONS - New Approach
For the first time, the Winchester Recreation Dept. has contracted with The Winchester Indoor Lawn Tennis Center (WILTC) to manage our Tennis Lesson. Mike LaPierre, WILTC lesson director, will hire and supervise all instructors. The Recreation Dept. will continue to set the lesson schedule, instructor/ student ratio,s and fees. Our goal is to provide consistent, high-quality, cost-effective instruction throughout the entire tennis season. Please let us know your opinion of this arrangement as the season progresses.
Please note: In case of inclement weather, we hold these morning and evening lessons at the Winchester Indoor Lawn Tennis Courts, 41 East St. A tennis pass is necessary to register. The ratio for adult lessons is approximately 1:8; for youth lessons the ratio is approximately 1:5.
